CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

“Creative Play and Improvisation” (Sarah)

Working with the themes BODY, ENERGY, SPACE and TIME we will research within our own known aerial technic ways in which we can expand, explore, and surprise ourselves. Using a mixture of improvisation and creative play, you will be provided with tools and impulses to discover a deeper and more playful relationship with your apparatus. Individual and group work will be explored, both on the floor and on the apparatus. We will also consider the relationship between external observations and internal experiences, exploring the space between the mover and the observer.

“Qigong Warm-up” (Liz)

This one-hour Qigong warm-up class for aerial acrobatics prepares the body and mind for safe, powerful, and expressive movement in the air. Drawing from Qigong, breathwork, functional conditioning, and contemporary movement practices, the class develops mobility, core strength, coordination, balance, and focused awareness. Emphasis is placed on joint preparation, spinal mobility, fluid power, and efficient movement patterns to support aerial technique while reducing strain and injury risk. The class creates a supportive, non-judgmental environment where students can build strength, flexibility, concentration, and presence before training in the air.

“Hip Key Masterclass” (Sarah)

Hip Key (also referred to as Hip Lock) is one of the foundational skills of vertical apparatus work—introduced early in training, yet often taking years to fully refine. As the starting point for countless sequences and a gateway into the world of roll-ups, developing a strong technical understanding of Hip Key is an important step in every vertical aerialist’s journey. In this workshop, we will break Hip Key down into its individual components, exploring the strength, coordination, and mechanics that work together to make the movement efficient and clear. We’ll also examine the often misunderstood technical differences between long-arm and bent-arm Hip Key variations, clarifying their distinct mechanics and how understanding them can support a smoother progression from one variation to the other.

“Aerial Hoop Dance” (Emily)

Hoop Dance In this aerial hoop class, we’ll learn how to turn simple hoop choreography into an aerial dance. Students will work on connecting moves smoothly, moving with the music, and adding their own style and expression in the hoop. The class is focused on creativity, flow, and making simple sequences feel fun and beautiful in the air.

“Fueling Performance: Nutrition for Circus Artists” (Sarah)

Optimal nutrition is essential for strength, endurance, recovery, and longevity in circus arts. This workshop covers key principles of fueling your body for training, performance, and injury prevention. Learn how to balance macronutrients, stay energized, support muscle recovery, and better understand nutritional timing—clarifying how to fuel effectively before and after training. Practical, science-based strategies will be tailored to the unique demands of aerial and acrobatic movement.

“Threading on Aerial Silks” (Liz)

This silks class explores the creation of circular movement sequences that continuously repeat, evolve, and transform through subtle variation. Working within a fixed wrap in silks, participants thread their limbs in and out of the apparatus, investigating how different movement qualities, timing, rhythm, and dynamic intention can redefine the same structural pathway again and again. Through repetition and variation, the class develops fluid transitions, coordination, musicality, and an interwoven dance between body and apparatus, where small shifts in energy and articulation create entirely new physical experiences and expressive possibilities.

“Flexibility and Contortion for Aerialists” (Bronny)

This two hour contortion and flexibility workshop is designed especially for aerialists and floor acrobats wanting to deepen their mobility, strength, and body awareness in a supportive space. With expert guidance from a professional contortionist and aerialist, we’ll work through the entire body with a strong focus on safe, sustainable flexibility training. Expect a juicy full-body warm up, strength and conditioning, and a balanced mix of active and passive flexibility work – both solo and with partners. Together we’ll explore whole-body flexibility, technique, and movement quality with opportunities for sequencing, tricks, and individual feedback throughout the workshop.

“Feldenkrais Warm-up” (Liz)

This Feldenkrais warm-up for aerialists offers a gentle yet highly focused approach to preparing the body for training. Through slow, mindful movement sequences, participants explore alignment, coordination, breath, weight transfer, and efficient muscular engagement, awakening deeper body awareness and reducing unnecessary tension. The class supports greater ease, mobility, and responsiveness in the shoulders, spine, pelvis, and core—helping aerialists move with more clarity, fluidity, and precision both in the air and on the ground. Ideal as a pre-training practice, it encourages safer technique, improved spatial awareness, and a more connected relationship to movement.

“Foundations of Roll-Ups” (Sarah)

Roll-ups have become increasingly visible in the aerial world and can often appear deceptively accessible. While they are exciting and rewarding skills, they rely on a precise combination of strength, coordination, body awareness, and foundational technique. Building these elements first creates a clearer and more sustainable pathway toward them.

In this workshop, we will break down the classic C-shape that underpins many roll-up variations through a combination of ground-based and apparatus-based exercises. Using micro-progressions from floor to air, we’ll identify the building blocks of the movement, helping each participant understand where they currently are in the process and which areas may need further development. Whether roll-ups are already part of your practice or still a future goal, this workshop will provide practical tools and a clear roadmap for progressing toward them with confidence.

“Double Point Hoop”  (Emily)

In this class, students will explore double point aerial hoop, a different style from the single point hoop they usually use. We’ll work on getting comfortable with the new shape and movement of the hoop while learning poses, transitions, and simple sequences that make the most of the double point setup. We’ll also explore how spinning feels and works differently on a double point hoop compared to a single point hoop. The class focuses on balance, flow, and discovering new ways to move in the air.

5Q Movement Analysis” (Howard)

This movement analysis class explores the body through the lens of the Five Qualities Movement System, guiding participants to recognize how movement is initiated, organized, and expressed from within. Through observation, structured improvisation, partner work, and directed physical exploration, students learn to identify pathways of impulse initiation in different areas of the body and how these impulses influence coordination, timing, expression, and dynamic range. The class develops greater physical awareness, efficiency, responsiveness, and creative choice, while deepening the connection between sensation, intention, and action. Suitable for performers, movers, dancers, circus artists, and anyone interested in embodied awareness and the intelligence of movement.

“Weekend Integration” (Liz)

This culmination class brings together the physical, creative, and expressive tools explored throughout the weekend into a playful and collaborative process of composition and discovery. Using a variety of movement games, improvisational structures, and creative prompts, participants will integrate concepts from movement analysis, embodiment, timing, rhythm, and apparatus exploration to generate original material on their chosen apparatus. The workshop encourages risk-taking, curiosity, and personal expression, supporting each participant in discovering new movement pathways and developing a unique physical language that reflects their individual artistic voice.
